Proverbs

  1. 1:10  My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
  2. 11  If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
  3. 12  Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
  4. 13  We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
  5. 14  Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
  6. 15  My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
  7. 16  For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
  8. 17  Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
  9. 18  And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.
  10. 19  So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

  14. 9  There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
  15. 10  And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.

  23. 15  Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
  24. 16  For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
  25. 17  For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
  26. 18  But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
  27. 19  The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

  35. 9  And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?
  36. 10  And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins.

  41. 22:9  Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.
  42. 10  And he enquired of the LORD for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.
  43. 11  Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father's house, the priests that were in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.
  44. 12  And Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.
  45. 13  And Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast enquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
  46. 14  Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all thy servants as David, which is the king's son in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is honourable in thine house?
  47. 15  Did I then begin to enquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute any thing unto his servant, nor to all the house of my father: for thy servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.
  48. 16  And the king said, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy father's house.
  49. 17  And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.
  50. 18  And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.

  68. 12  And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
  69. 13  And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.
  70. 14  And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
  71. 15  And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
  72. 16  And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

  75. 19  And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

  79. 23  And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
  80. 24  For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
  81. 25  Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
  82. 26  And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.
  83. 27  And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.
  84. 28  And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.
  85. 29  And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
  86. 30  But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
  87. 31  And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
  88. 32  It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

  97. 19  A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
